Today jMemoria ships as a single edition under the EUPL 1.2. Nothing is licence-gated.

The line

Keeping knowledge, using it, and taking it with you again is free. Operating it across an organisation, monitoring it, and proving it to third parties is commercial. Put differently: traceability for you is free; provability to an auditor is the product.

Free, permanently

  • The knowledge model, the write path and the review workflow — including the review diff
  • The domain-package mechanism (basic and software-development packages)
  • The REST API, Java SDK, MCP server, CLI and query API
  • The security base, and persistence with backup and restore
  • Export, transfer and fork

A commercial edition might follow

If one ever comes, it would sit on the operate-and-prove side — running jMemoria across an organisation and proving it to third parties. What it would include is not decided, so it is not listed here.

Export matters most of all: a memory system lives on trust — whoever puts their project history into it has to know they can get all of it back out again, always, without paying.

Honesty note. The left column is what will stay free, not what is finished. Some of it — export / import of a workspace, the CLI and the query API — is still on the roadmap, not yet shipped. The commitment is that when it arrives, it is free.
There is no commercial edition today — no prices, no “Enterprise edition”. If one ever comes, its scope will be decided then, not promised now.

jMemoria is self-hosted only — delivered as software you run, never a service operated on your behalf.
